The label on a medicine bottle. Street signs. Job applications. A
menu. The instructions on a child's car seat. Safety warnings at
work.
Imagine you can't read any of these!
An estimated 43,000
adults in east King County alone are functionally illiterate.
Hopelink's literacy program works to equip our
community's adults - many of them parents - with the basic literacy
skills they need in order to be better family members, workers and
community members.
Hopelink's Literacy Learning Centers provide
a crucial element in the development of self-sufficiency, helping adults improve their
family's safety, stability and security.
