The Elliott Bay Water Taxi Begins Service for Summer Commuters and Sightseers—Hopelink Provides Free Shuttle Service for Riders

What: To help ease congestion over the summer, the Elliott Bay Water Taxi will begin service, offering walk-on passengers service between Seacrest Park in West Seattle and Pier 55 on the downtown Seattle waterfront.

When:
A "kick off" event will be held on Sunday, May 1 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.  Taxi Service will run May 1, 2005 through September 30, 2005.

Hopelink’s transportation program will begin free shuttle service to the Water Taxi dock for passengers using the Water Taxi from Seacrest Park in West Seattle to Pier 55 in downtown Seattle.  This year’s shuttle service will run in West Seattle, operating between Alki Point and the West Seattle Junction, and will include the Admiral District on its route.

The shuttle will run seven days a week, and will serve all bus stops along the fixed route of the service.  In addition, customers may call 866.261.3278 in advance to request off-route trips within the designated DART zone adjacent to the West Seattle Junction. 

The shuttle service to the Water Taxi is free.  The Water Taxi fare is $3 one way, or riders can show a PugetPass, Saturday/Sunday Day pass or Reduced Fare permit and ride for no additional cost.  Children under 5 are free.  FlexPasses and King Count employee passes are accepted on the Water Taxi.  For all evening and weekend Mariner games, the Water Taxi will operate extended service.

Hopelink is the DART contract provider for Metro, providing transportation services.
