Mailing/Project - Assist staff with mass mailings and other projects as assigned. Daytime "on-call" hours. No minimum time commitment.
Data Entry - Help staff with data entry into database. Flexible daytime hours. A minimum three-month commitment is required.
Day-of-Events - Help set up, carry out, and clean up after each of Hopelink's special fund-raising events. Events take place during daytime and evening hours. No minimum time commitment.
Community Outreach - Speak on behalf of Hopelink at community outreach events. Answer questions and provide general information about Hopelink to the general public. No minimum time commitment.
Administrative volunteers are needed at Hopelink's Administrative office in Redmond. Hopelink's fundraising events are planned by the Development Team in our Redmond office, with events taking place in various locations on the Eastside.
Sorting and Prepping - Help sort food donations and assist in food bank organization and distribution prep. Volunteers must be at least 12 years with supervision or over 16 and be able to lift 25 pounds or more. 2-4 hours/week, Weekday day time hours only. A minimum 3 month commitment is required.
Food Pick-up Drivers - Pick up food donations from local grocery stores and deliver to the food banks. Volunteers must have a valid WA State driver's license, be 18 or older, have auto insurance, a vehicle that will accommodate large amounts of food donations, and be able to lift 20 pounds or more. Volunteers needed weekday morning hours only, 1-2 hours/week for a minimum 3 month commitment.
Home Delivery Drivers - Deliver food to homebound clients who are unable attend food bank. Volunteers must have a valid WA State driver's license, be 18 or older, have auto insurance, and be able to lift 20 pounds or more. Volunteers needed weekday day time hours, 1-2 hours/week. A minimum 3 month commitment is required.
Special Events - Special events take place in Hopelink Food Banks throughout the year including School Supply Distribution, Holiday Gift Rooms, and Food Drives. No minimum time commitment.
Translator/Interpreter - Translate with fluency in any language as needed, especially Spanish and Russian. Volunteers may be asked to translate written materials, as well as interpret at food banks, workshops, special events, or job fairs. Daytime and evening hours. No minimum time commitment.
Hopelink's Food Banks are located in 5 communities: Bellevue, Carnation/Sno-Valley, Kirkland/Northshore, Redmond, and Shoreline.
Basic Literacy Tutor - Meet twice weekly with an adult literacy student to teach reading, writing or GED preparation. A minimum one-year commitment is required.
ESL Class Teacher/Facilitator/Assistant - Meet weekly with small groups of adults to teach basic English, practice conversation and civics, or prepare for citizenship. A minimum one-year commitment is required.
Financial Management Instructor/Assistant - Teach Hopelink clients budgeting, money management and credit management. A minimum 1 year commitment is required.
ESL Intake and Assessment Assistant - Serve as the first point of contact for ESL students. Complete Intake Forms, give placement tests, and assist with goal-setting. A minimum 6 month commitment is required.
Computer Tutor - Meet students by appointment for one-on-one instruction in basic computer skills, writing resumes, and learning computer skills to use on the job. A minimum 6 month commitment is required.
Computer Class Teacher/Assistant - Meet weekly with small groups of adults to teach beginning computer skills - keyboarding, Windows, the Internet, and Microsoft Office programs. A minimum one-year commitment is required.
Family Literacy - Read to children and distribute children's books. A minimum six-month commitment is required.
Computer and Homework Support Tutor - Assist young clients with homework, using the computer and other supportive materials as needed. Minimum age for volunteers is 16. Minimum time commitment is 2 hours/week, ratio is 2 volunteers per 6 children. Basic computer skills preferred; proficiency is not required.
Employment Program Lab Assistant - Provide one-on-one assistance to individuals in the Employment Program Computer Lab with online job searches, creating email accounts, editing resumes, applications, cover letters and thank-you letters. Minimum age for volunteers is 18. Minimum 6 month commitment for 2 hours/week, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 10 am-4 pm.
Library - Support the Adult Education specialized library. Volunteers process book orders, catalogue new books (professional library experience required), shelve returned books and remind users when books are overdue. Flexible hours available. A minimum 6 month commitment is required.
Adult Education has offices in Bellevue, Kirkland/Northshore and Carnation/Sno-Valley. Services are provided at these offices, Hopelink housing sites, and in other public places in North and East King County.
Childcare Volunteer - Provide safe supervision for preschool and school-aged children in Housing while parents access services and classes on site. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. A minimum of 2 hours/week for a 6 month commitment and additional training is required.
Adopt an Apartment Volunteer - Prepare a Hopelink transitional housing apartment unit for a homeless family to occupy. Responsibilities include locating/acquiring and storing donations household items and furniture. Time commitment varies. This can be a group or individual opportunity.
Lawn Care & Maintenance - Maintain Hopelink's facilities. Groups and individual volunteers complete projects. Daytime, evening, and weekend hours. No minimum time commitment.
Moving Assistance - Assist families moving out of Transitional Housing into permanent housing. Volunteers must have a valid WA State driver's license, auto insurance, a vehicle that will accommodate large items, or be willing to provide a vehicle for the family. Daytime, evening, and weekend "on-call" hours. No minimum time commitment.
Hopelink's Housing Facilities are located in Bellevue, Bothell, Duvall, Kenmore, and Redmond.

Bus Buddy Program:
Train a new rider on all aspects of using the bus system. Instruct the rider on reading bus schedules and route maps, and identify the best route for your trip together. You will also familiarize the new rider with how to use the online Trip Planner. Average commitment depends upon volunteer. Day and evening hours. More information.Asset Programs: Adult Education
